ASUS Ascent GX10 vs NVIDIA DGX Spark

By Samuel Seidel · Published October 11, 2026 · 5 min read

The ASUS Ascent GX10 and NVIDIA's DGX Spark Founders Edition use the same GB10 chip with 128 GB of LPDDR5x at 273 GB/s, so the memory-bandwidth ceiling on model speed is the same; GPUwerk has not benchmarked a GX10. Warranty does not separate them either: both vendors state one year on their own pages. What is left is price for the storage tier you need, availability and firmware cadence, and neither NVIDIA's product page nor ASUS's product or US eShop page showed a price when I checked on 11 October 2026.

I run GPUwerk, which rents DGX Sparks and lists the GX10 as coming soon in its store, so weigh everything below with that in mind. Every figure carries its source and the date I read it. Forum prices are user posts, not vendor quotes.

What the price evidence does and does not show

The forum thread mixes dates, regions and currencies, and its numbers disagree: one user wrote that a GX10 had been under $4,000 on Amazon and was now $6,700, and the Swiss and German posts do not line up with the US ones. The Founders Edition moved the same way: a forum user put it at $4,699 in NVIDIA's store on 2 September 2026, and The Register reported $6,950 a month later, blaming memory prices. Older articles therefore quote prices that no longer apply. For the 128 GB machine, the useful comparison is the same storage tier from each seller on the day you order, including shipping and VAT.

Performance: why it should match

Single-user decode speed on this chip is limited by memory bandwidth. The rule of thumb on GPUwerk's benchmarks page is decode tokens per second of roughly 273 GB/s divided by the bytes of active parameters read per token. Both machines share the same 273 GB/s, so the ceiling is the same. On one GPUwerk fleet node (vLLM 0.27.1, AWQ 4-bit, 2 September 2026), Qwen3-Coder 30B-A3B decoded at 80.9 tok/s and Llama 3.3 70B at 6.0 tok/s for a single request. Those runs were not on a GX10, and GPUwerk has no OEM-versus-OEM benchmark.

Two things can still differ. ASUS describes three fans and a dual vapor chamber for the GX10 but gives no noise figure, and I found no review comparing measured noise or sustained clocks across makers, so I make no claim either way. Software also differs by release: the firmware paths above are separate, and the GX10 update FAQ I read was older than NVIDIA's July 2026 notes.

Which to buy

For the other makers see every GB10 machine compared. Store pages: NVIDIA DGX Spark and ASUS Ascent GX10 (both coming soon, no price, not in stock at GPUwerk). Chip details are on the specs page and market prices on the price page.

Try the chip first

Because the GB10 is shared, a rented Spark tells you whether 128 GB at 273 GB/s suits your model, whichever badge you buy. GPUwerk rents a dedicated DGX Spark in EU-Central at $0.79/h, billed by the minute. It will not show GX10 thermals or noise.

FAQ

Is the ASUS Ascent GX10 the same as a DGX Spark?

It has the same NVIDIA GB10 Superchip, 128 GB of LPDDR5x at 273 GB/s and ConnectX-7 networking, in an ASUS enclosure. The name DGX Spark belongs to NVIDIA's own machine. The ASUS box is 150 x 150 x 51 mm and 1.48 kg, against 150 x 150 x 50.5 mm and 1.2 kg for the Founders Edition. GPUwerk has not benchmarked a GX10, so I do not state a speed difference or a lack of one from measurement.

Is the GX10 cheaper than the DGX Spark?

I could not confirm it. On 11 October 2026 neither vendor page showed a price. The Register reported the Founders Edition 128 GB at $6,950 on 2 October 2026. In an NVIDIA developer forum thread dated 2 September 2026, one user reported ASUS eShop prices of $6,000, $7,000 and $8,000 for 1, 2 and 4 TB, and another said NVIDIA's store still sold the Founders Edition at $4,699. Those are user posts, not vendor pages. Compare the storage tier you need on the day you buy.

Does the GX10 run DGX OS?

Yes. ASUS states that the GX10 ships with NVIDIA DGX OS on Ubuntu Linux, and its support FAQ calls DGX OS the only tested and recommended operating system. ASUS distributes the firmware package and recovery ISO on its own support site, while the Founders Edition takes NVIDIA's releases. NVIDIA's release notes list July 2026 as the newest Spark release, with DGX OS 7.5.0 in the current software table; the ASUS update FAQ I read (last updated 25 March 2026) mentions DGX OS 7.2.3.

Can two GX10s be clustered like Sparks?

On paper, yes. Both machines have a ConnectX-7 port. ASUS's FAQ says two units connect by QSFP cable through ConnectX-7 and that four or more are supported through a network switch, and NVIDIA's release notes say the Cluster Assistant links up to three devices without a switch and up to four with one. GPUwerk has not benchmarked a GX10 or any two-node inference, so I cannot give a cluster speed for either.

Can I rent out an ASUS GX10 on GPUwerk Platform?

Yes, if you own it outright. GPUwerk Platform accepts any NVIDIA GB10 machine, and the requirements page publishes the firmware keys for both the Founders Edition and the ASUS GX10. You get 70% of what renters are charged, and earnings are not guaranteed. The install has not been tested on every model. See the requirements page for the network, TPM and burn-in steps.
