How to earn money with your DGX Spark
You can earn money with a DGX Spark you own by renting its hours to other people. Through GPUwerk Platform, the Spark stays at your home or office, GPUwerk rents it to its customers at $0.65 an hour, and you receive 70% of what those customers are charged: 45.5 US cents per rented hour, paid monthly in euros. What that adds up to depends on how many hours renters book. Nobody can promise you that number, including us.

What GPUwerk Platform is
GPUwerk Platform is GPUwerk's programme for people and businesses who own a DGX Spark and want to rent it out. You keep the machine on your premises. Installing it for the programme erases it and puts on a locked system that GPUwerk runs remotely. GPUwerk lists it as a separate "DGX Spark 1× (Partner)" product next to its own fleet, sells the hours to its renters, bills them and handles their support. You supply the capacity to GPUwerk and get paid for the hours it sold. The console for owners is at platform.gpuwerk.com.
Renters choose the Partner product on purpose. Before renting, they're told the machine belongs to an independent partner, sits at the partner's premises in the country shown, runs over a home or business connection, and can be withdrawn by its owner with notice. That's why it costs them less than GPUwerk's own Sparks at $0.79 an hour.
How your earnings are calculated
Every time GPUwerk bills a renter for time on your Spark, 70% of the amount charged is credited to you in the same step. Stopped time counts too: a renter who stops an instance but keeps the machine reserved pays 75% of the hourly rate, and you get 70% of that.
Some usage earns nothing:
- Trial hours. GPUwerk never places trial usage on a Partner Spark.
- Promotional credit. Top-up bonuses, referral credit, discounts and credit granted by GPUwerk can be spent on your Spark, but you earn nothing on that part. A renter's paid credit is always counted as spent before their promotional credit, so this only applies once a renter has used up the money they paid in.
- Offline time. If your Spark drops off during a rental, the renter isn't charged for the gap and you earn nothing for it.
- Refunds and chargebacks. When renter money is refunded or charged back, the matching earnings are reversed on a corrective statement.
Renters pay in US dollars. Your earnings are fixed in euros once a month: the dollar total is converted at the European Central Bank reference rate for the last day of the month, and the statement shows the dollar basis and the rate.
An example at stated hours
The table multiplies the current Partner rate by a number of rented hours. A month has about 730 hours. The rows are there to show the arithmetic. They aren't a forecast, and GPUwerk Platform has only just opened, so there is no rental history for Partner Sparks that a forecast could be built on.
| Rented hours in a month | Renters charged | Your 70% |
|---|---|---|
| 100 hours | $65 | about $45.50 |
| 365 hours (half the month) | $237.25 | about $166 |
| 730 hours (every hour, a ceiling) | $474.50 | about $332 |
Example at $0.65 per rented hour and a 70% share, before the conversion to euros and before your own costs. Rounding happens per billing row, so a real statement can differ by a few cents. A month under €50 rolls over to the next one.
We'd plan around the low row. Listing a Spark makes it rentable; it doesn't make anyone rent it. If GPUwerk has no demand for more Partner capacity when you apply, the application can be approved and put on a waitlist rather than listed.
What it costs you
- Electricity. The Spark stays powered the whole month, rented or not. NVIDIA rates the whole system at 240 W peak, so the ceiling is 0.24 kWh per hour, or 175.2 kWh over a 730-hour month. Multiply by your own price per kWh; the power and electricity cost guide has the formula and why typical draw is lower.
- Your internet line. Renter traffic, model downloads and software updates all run over it. The minimum is 300 Mbit/s down and 100 Mbit/s up.
- The hardware risk. The Spark, its power and its connection remain your property and your risk under the agreement.
- An evening for the install. Making the USB stick, booting the Spark from it and pairing it in the console. Then about 72 hours of automatic burn-in.
Requirements
A DGX Spark Founders Edition, ASUS Ascent GX10 or Lenovo ThinkStation PGX that you own outright, located in your country of residence in the EU or EEA. Its TPM and Secure Boot must be on. Wired Ethernet is recommended. Businesses and private individuals can both apply; individuals go through an ID check. The requirements and setup page has the details.
The steps
- Sign in or create an account at platform.gpuwerk.com and apply, listing each Spark's serial number.
- After GPUwerk approves the application, sign the agreements and add a bank account in your name for payouts.
- Make the install USB stick on another computer and boot the Spark from it (guide: make the USB, boot the Spark). This erases the Spark.
- Type the pairing code from the Spark's screen into the console and check the serial number and TPM fingerprint match (guide: pairing).
- Leave it on for the burn-in, about 72 hours. GPUwerk then reviews the results and lists the Spark (guide: after pairing).
What you give up
The Spark is wiped at install and you have no login on it afterwards: no desktop, no shell, no user account. You can't use it for your own work while it's listed, not even between rentals. Each Spark is listed for at least 90 days from approval. To leave, you give 14 days' notice in the console; once it has passed and no renter is on the machine, it's unlisted and you restore the stock system with NVIDIA's recovery USB. GPUwerk handles firmware and OS updates, and you book maintenance at least 48 hours ahead, for at most 8 hours, never while it's rented. A reliability score tracks uptime over a rolling 30 days: below 97% you get a warning, and below 95% the Spark can be taken out of rental until it's reviewed.
How GPUwerk keeps renters away from your network and your network away from renters is on is it safe to rent out my DGX Spark?
Who it's for
It fits an owner whose Spark sits idle most of the week, who has fibre or fast cable with a wired connection, lives in the EU or EEA, and is happy to hand the machine over for at least three months. It's a poor fit if you still use the Spark weekly, if your upload is slow, if the machine is leased or financed, or if you need a predictable monthly amount. Outside the EU and EEA, GPUwerk Platform doesn't accept owners yet.
Questions people ask first
How much can I earn with a DGX Spark?
Through GPUwerk Platform you receive 70% of what renters are charged for your Spark's hours. Renters currently pay $0.65 an hour for a Partner Spark, so a rented hour earns you 45.5 US cents before your own electricity and internet costs. 100 rented hours in a month would be about $45.50 and 365 hours about $166. How many hours renters book depends on demand, which GPUwerk cannot promise.
Is the money paid in dollars or euros?
In euros. Renters are charged in US dollars, and your monthly amount is converted at the European Central Bank reference rate for the last day of the month. It is paid by SEPA transfer within 30 days of the end of that month. Amounts under €50 roll over to the next month.
Do I earn anything when nobody is renting my Spark?
No. You earn only on hours a renter is charged for, including stopped time they keep the machine reserved for. Idle hours, offline time, trial usage and usage paid with GPUwerk's promotional credit earn nothing.
