Enverge alternative: GPUwerk vs Enverge for renting a DGX Spark
Enverge and GPUwerk both rent a dedicated NVIDIA DGX Spark by the minute. Enverge is cheaper per running hour ($0.75 against $0.79), lists 4 TB of storage against 1 TB, has a four-node tier and lets you run Docker inside your instance. GPUwerk is in the Czech Republic under an EU operator with a published GDPR Article 28 DPA, and a stopped GPUwerk instance keeps its workspace at 75% of the rate, where Enverge bills until you delete the instance and its data. I run GPUwerk, so read this with that in mind. Every Enverge figure below comes from Enverge's own pages, checked on 11 October 2026 and linked at the end.
Side by side
| GPUwerk | Enverge | |
|---|---|---|
| One Spark, running | $0.79/hour on demand. | $0.75/hour on demand. The Spark page marks founder support "during beta". (advantage) |
| Clusters | Two nodes at $1.79/hour (256 GB across two nodes, not one memory pool). No four-node option. | Two nodes at $1.65/hour, four nodes at $4.50/hour. Enverge's docs also say the 256 GB is two 128 GB pools, not one address space. (advantage) |
| Billing | Per minute from prepaid credit. Account plus a $10 minimum top-up. | Metered in minutes from create to delete, "rounded up per billing bucket", invoiced daily to a card on file. |
| Pausing | Stop keeps the machine and the workspace at 75% of the rate ($0.59/hour). Terminate ends billing and deletes the workspace. (advantage) | "Stopping does not pause billing." Charges end only when you delete the instance, and deleting destroys its data. |
| Storage | 1 TB NVMe. One recovery copy of a running or stopped workspace, refreshed about every six hours, for hardware failures only. Not a backup service. | 4 TB NVMe, listed as "Ephemeral or Persistent" on the Spark page. The terms say storage is ephemeral, with no backups or snapshots. (advantage) |
| Fixed-term booking | Monthly reservations from 1 to 24 months, up to 35% off. A 12-month term is $432.53 a month. | Reservations of 1 to 5 consecutive days at a flat $16.80 a day, paid up front. Nothing longer. |
| When nothing is free | The console shows live availability, and you can join a waitlist. | A free first-in, first-out queue. The docs say a wait "can run from hours to days" under heavy demand. |
| Inside the instance | Root in a Docker container on a dedicated Spark. No Docker socket, so Docker-in-Docker does not run. Browser terminal or SSH with your own key. | A container sandbox on dedicated, single-tenant hardware. Docker is preinstalled inside it and can reach the GPU with the NVIDIA runtime. SSH through Enverge's relay. (advantage) |
| Where the machine is | Czech Republic (EU-Central) on GPUwerk's own tiers. The opt-in Partner tier runs at an independent partner's premises in an EU or EEA country and is for public or synthetic data only. (advantage) | The homepage names three fleet regions: us-west-1 (US), br-east-1 (Brazil) and eu-south-1 (Greece). No page I read says which region the Sparks are in. Customer traffic goes through a relay in Amsterdam. |
| Contract and data protection | PRINT IT! SE, Prague. A published GDPR Article 28 DPA. (advantage) | Enverge Corp, Delaware, under Delaware law. The terms list GDPR rights you can exercise by email. They do not mention a data processing agreement. |
| SLA | None published. | None. The terms say there is no SLA or uptime guarantee. |
| Other hardware | RTX 5090 (32 GB) at $0.89/hour. See the GPU catalog. | RTX Pro 6000 at $1.95/hour, Mac Studio M5 Ultra at $2.50, H100 at $4, H200 at $5.50 and B300 at $7.50. (advantage) |

What the price gap comes to
On running time alone Enverge is cheaper. The $0.04 an hour is $1.60 over a 40-hour week of use ($30.00 at Enverge, $31.60 at GPUwerk) and $6.40 over 160 hours ($120.00 against $126.40). Over a full month of 730 hours, Enverge's homepage puts a Spark at about $548, against $576.70 at GPUwerk's on-demand rate. A GPUwerk monthly reservation closes that gap: a 12-month term is $432.53 a month.
The order flips when the machine sits idle between sessions and you want to keep what is on it. Take a day with 8 hours of work and 16 idle hours, keeping the workspace overnight (my arithmetic, from each provider's published rates):
- GPUwerk: 8 hours at $0.79 plus 16 stopped hours at 75% of that rate comes to $15.80.
- Enverge: stopping does not pause billing, so the instance runs on at $0.75 for all 24 hours, which is $18.00. A one-day reservation at $16.80 is cheaper if you book it in advance.
- Enverge, deleting overnight: 8 hours is $6.00, but deleting destroys the instance and its data, so you download the model and rebuild the environment each morning.
So the rule of thumb: if you work in single sessions and keep nothing on the machine, or you need four nodes, Enverge costs less. If your days have gaps and the model weights and environment should stay put, GPUwerk's stopped rate usually comes out ahead. Run your own hours through both before you decide.
When Enverge is the better choice
- You want the lowest hourly rate for a single Spark and your sessions run start to finish.
- You need four Sparks, or a two-node pair at $1.65 instead of $1.79.
- Your workflow builds or runs Docker images inside the instance. GPUwerk has no Docker socket.
- You need more than 1 TB of local disk.
- You want an H100, H200, B300, RTX Pro 6000 or Mac Studio from the same account.
- A US contract under Delaware law suits your company.
When GPUwerk is the better choice
- Your data protection review asks where the machine stands and who processes the data. GPUwerk names the Czech Republic and publishes an Article 28 DPA.
- You pause often and want the workspace kept without paying the full rate.
- You need a Spark for longer than five days at a fixed price. GPUwerk reserves by the month.
- You prefer prepaid credit to a card charged daily.
Neither provider publishes an SLA, so neither is the answer if you need an uptime guarantee. If you are weighing more than these two, DGX Spark cloud providers compared has eight offers in one table, and how to rent a DGX Spark walks through a first GPUwerk session. FAQ
Is Enverge cheaper than GPUwerk?
Per running hour, yes: $0.75 for one Spark against GPUwerk's $0.79, and $1.65 for two nodes against $1.79, checked on 11 October 2026. Enverge keeps billing a stopped instance at the full rate until you delete it, while GPUwerk bills a stopped instance at 75% and keeps the workspace. For a day with long idle gaps where you keep your data, GPUwerk can come out cheaper.
Where are Enverge's DGX Sparks located?
Enverge's homepage lists three fleet regions, us-west-1 (US), br-east-1 (Brazil) and eu-south-1 (Greece), but none of the pages I read on 11 October 2026 says which region hosts the Sparks. Its terms say customer traffic goes through a relay in Amsterdam, and that some regions in its marketing may be roadmap items. GPUwerk's own Sparks are in the Czech Republic.
Does Enverge keep my data when I stop an instance?
Enverge's terms say stopping does not pause billing, so an instance and its data stay only as long as you keep paying for it. Deleting the instance ends billing and permanently destroys its data, and Enverge provides no backups or snapshots. At GPUwerk, stop keeps the workspace on the machine at 75% of the rate, and terminate deletes it.
Does Enverge or GPUwerk offer an SLA?
No. Enverge's terms say it offers no service-level agreement or uptime guarantee, and GPUwerk publishes no SLA either. Plan for interruptions on both, and keep your own copies of anything you need.
Can I run Docker inside the instance?
On Enverge, yes: its docs say Docker is preinstalled inside the instance and reaches the GPU with the NVIDIA runtime, though the --gpus flag does not work. On GPUwerk, no: the instance is a Docker container without a Docker socket or privileged mode, so Docker-in-Docker does not run. Both are ARM64 machines, so images need an arm64 build.
Enverge facts, all checked 2026-10-11: $0.75, $1.65 and $4.50 per hour for one, two and four Sparks, 4 TB NVMe "Ephemeral or Persistent", SSH and Docker, and founder support during beta, from spark.enverge.ai. Instances as container sandboxes, restart not ending billing, Docker inside the instance with the NVIDIA runtime, the two-node memory model, the queue wait and reservations of 1 to 5 days, from enverge.ai/docs and spark.enverge.ai/docs. Per-minute metering rounded up per billing bucket, daily invoicing, stopping not pausing billing, $16.80 a day for a reservation, single-tenant instances, no SLA, ephemeral storage without backups, the Amsterdam relay, Delaware incorporation and law, from the Enverge terms (last updated 11 September 2026). Fleet regions, the other GPU prices and the roughly $548 monthly figure, from enverge.ai. GPUwerk figures are from GPUwerk pricing, the tenant environment page and the DPA.
